Enquiry Stage
I will give a complimentary consultation over the phone or in person if you prefer.
If you confirm a date at the enquiry stage, I will hold this date for seven days pending receipt of your completed and signed contract and deposit. This contract also acts as your permission for me to start work on your ceremony.
Booking
I will accept your booking in good faith based on the information you provide and on receipt of your signed contract and deposit payment. No additional costs, or changes in costs, can be made after the contract is signed by both you and me, unless you wish to add the provision of extra services to the contract. I reserve the right to increase the fee payable, due to changes made, for example, if the time at the event is being extended or there is a change in the venue for the ceremony. Should this apply, I will issue a new contract to you for agreement and signature.
Fees
My Ceremony Fees are as follows:
Funeral Ceremonies - £250 - these are usually paid directly by the Funeral Director
Naming Ceremonies - £325
Vow Renewal, Commitment and Wedding style Celebrant-Led Ceremonies £550
Mileage: Prices include up to 35 miles from GL2, thereafter mileage is chargeable at 0.45p per mile.
Payment of Ceremony Fees
A deposit of 50% of the ceremony fee is required within 7 days of booking to secure the date of the ceremony.
You have a 14-day cooling off period from the date you sign your contract, therefore should you cancel within this cooling off period, your fee will be returned to you.
The remaining balance of your ceremony fee is due and payable 4 weeks prior to the ceremony date, for Naming Ceremonies and 12 weeks prior to the ceremony date for vow renewals, commitment and wedding style ceremonies. Full payment is required if a ceremony is booked within the minimum time frames.
On receipt of full payment, I will provide you with your script of the ceremony in order for you to make any amendments.
I accept payment by BACS or cheque.
Penalties
I will provide detailed information within your contract regarding the times you must provide information and payment to me. Should you not provide the necessary information and payment to me at the agreed time, this may negatively impact on me being able to provide my services to you and as a result, I will not be held responsible.
Cancellation Charges Apply
If you cancel within the 14-day cooling off period your deposit will be returned to you.
If you choose to cancel after the statutory 14 days, for whatever reason, the charges you are required to pay are as follows:
Naming Ceremonies:
Less than 4 weeks before ceremony – 100% of the total fee
Up to 4 weeks before the ceremony – 50% of the total fee
Vow Renewal, Commitment and Wedding style ceremonies:
6-12 months before ceremony – 50% of total fee
3-6 months before ceremony – 75% of total fee
Less than 3 months before ceremony – 100% of total fee
If for any reason I have to cancel with you, I will provide you with 100% refund of any payment you have made.
Postponements
Should you wish postpone your booking for whatever reason, then providing I am available on the new date, I am happy to move your booking date and no further fees will be required. This must be done in writing to me. If I am not available on your proposed new date, then the cancellation charges will apply.
Use of Imagery and Testimonials
Your contract will serve as a release for any photographs or videos taken by me to be used in print or electronically for promotional purposes only and guarantees they will not be intentionally exploited in any way. I may ask that you grant me permission to use photographs taken at your event, and/or for you to provide me with a testimonial, to be used for promotional purposes only. You are under no obligation to grant me such permission. Any photographic material used will show accreditation to the creator.
Social Media Platforms – Facebook, Instagram, Twitter
All parties agree to freedom of posting images on social media, without recourse, at any agreed time.
Fulfilment of Obligations
Every effort will be made in good faith to fulfil your engagement, but responsibility cannot be accepted for non-arrival due to circumstances beyond my control, e.g. extreme weather conditions, industrial action, failure of public services etc. In the event of non-arrival, a refund will be made to you, in accordance with the circumstances prevailing. In the event of illness, every effort will be made to provide a substitute Celebrant, and to pass on full details of the booking and planning documentation for the event. No additional fee will be charged.
Unavailability
If on the day of the event I am not able, for whatever reason, to provide the service you have paid for I will endeavour to find a substitute celebrant to provide the service in my place. If no substitute celebrant can be found, will you be entitled to a refund.
In the event that I cancel your ceremony, you will be entitled to 100% refund.
Legalities
The ceremonies that I provide are not legally binding in any way. If you wish to have a legally recognised ceremony, you will need to arrange to see the Registration Service for which I can provide you with the details.
GDPR: In order to be GDPR compliant, I have to tell you that I will not pass your details and information to any third parties without your express permission. I will need to collect information about you and your family and friends which is used for the sole purpose of creating your ceremony. Also, as an Independent Celebrant, I will be working alongside you and other professionals involved in your ceremony, however, I am only responsible for the ceremonial part of the event.
To ensure your ceremony is as you wish, I may be required to share some of your information with your other chosen suppliers, such as the venue manager, photographer, musicians etc. This would only be for the sole purpose of facilitating the ceremony that you have commissioned.
When our business together is complete, any personal information that I hold about you will be deleted after one month following your ceremony, except for billing and invoice details, which I am required to keep for financial reporting to HMRC.
